Cyberlink made our first steps into the cloud easy.

The software company based in Hünenberg (ZG) was faced with a decision: renew its IT infrastructure and build up in-house expertise, or outsource responsibility for hardware and operations while focusing solely on the application layer. With Cyberlink, easylearn found the right partner to take the step into the cloud. Since autumn 2021, easylearn has focused exclusively on its applications. The entire IT infrastructure has been outsourced to the cloud and connectivity provider — with full cost transparency.

A unique offering: Proof of Concept and onboarding workshop.

The Proof of Concept (PoC) provides an opportunity to minimize uncertainties during the decision-making process in advance. With this free service, which can be canceled at any time, Cyberlink customers can evaluate the scope and performance of a cloud solution beforehand and gain insight into the additional financial benefits of usage-based billing. The scope and duration of the PoC were defined jointly, while testing was carried out by easylearn.

The second exclusive offering included an onboarding workshop, which easylearn also made use of. In a joint workshop, Cyberlink configured the network directly within the VPC customer environment set up for easylearn during the PoC, created virtual machines (VMs), and established the virtual private network (VPN), taking all customer specifications into account. easylearn was then able to immediately begin installing its own applications and setting up new user access. For the Zurich-based cloud provider, all that remained was to activate the usage-based billing.

During the collaboration, easylearn quickly recognized Cyberlink’s high level of expertise. From the outset, the focus was on finding a secure, reliable, and scalable solution for hosting data in Switzerland. Cyberlink’s Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is operated exclusively in highly secure Tier 3 data centers in the Zurich area, offers state-of-the-art Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and is regularly audited by an independent auditor in accordance with ISAE 3402. The data center infrastructures meet the strictest security requirements, including those of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). The separation of individual VPC customer instances is ensured within Cyberlink’s data centers through tenant separation at the VMware hypervisor level. Customers only need to decide which operating systems and applications they wish to deploy. According to Adrian Hämmerli, Cyberlink’s reliable and secure service confirmed this decision: “The service gives us security. We are no longer responsible for operating the hardware ourselves. Since hosting our systems in Cyberlink’s virtual data center, we have been able to optimize costs while maintaining full cost transparency — and I can enjoy my holidays and free time much more relaxed.”
