Digital Realty and Cyberlink Bring SCION to Life.
For 19 years now, Digital Realty and Cyberlink have been working together. The story of two ICT companies, what they have achieved together — and where the journey with SCION technology is heading.

In an increasingly digitalized world, secure and reliable communication networks play a central role. The SCION technology, developed at ETH Zurich, promises to fundamentally transform the way data is transmitted securely and efficiently. The performance and security advantages of the technology no longer require proof. The banking sector has long been running SCION in production, and migrations are carried out daily in other sensitive industries as well. Meanwhile, the ETH spin-off Anapaya is working on the further development and dissemination of the SCION standard, and the SCION Association, founded in February 2023, has set the clear goal of establishing the technology as an alternative to the current internet standard.
However, a revolutionary technology alone is not enough — the right infrastructure is needed to establish it globally. This is where Digital Realty and Cyberlink come into play. Digital Realty baut globales Service Fabric mit PlatformDIGITAL®
Teil der PlatformDIGITAL® ist ein globales Datennetz, mittels dessen jeder Digital Realty-Kunde oder Partner direkte Verbindungen zwischen Rechenzentren realisieren kann – und das auf allen sechs Kontinenten.
Der Kunde wählt im Digital Realty Online Portal, welche Punkte zu verbinden sind und gibt die gewünschten technischen Parameter an (z.B. Bandbreite). So lassen sich Verbindungen über grosse Distanzen in kürzester Zeit realisieren. SCION 2024 – Live-Einblicke in den Fortschritt
Ein Highlight in der gemeinsamen Geschichte zwischen Digital Realty und Cyberlink war ihr gemeinsamer Auftritt bei den Swiss Cyber Security Days 2024, wo sie Fortschritte und Möglichkeiten von SCION präsentieren konnten. Erfrischend praxisbezogen erläuterten Arne Benox und Thomas Knüsel, wie SCION-Projekte ihren Weg vom Whiteboard an der ETH in die Realität gefunden haben. Klar wurde: Es ist die Kombination aus tiefgehendem, technologischem Knowhow und erstklassiger, international vernetzter Infrastruktur, die eine neue Ära der sicheren Internetkommunikation einläuten wird.
