SCION – The New Internet Architecture for Your Highly Secure Data Exchange

A network of trusted participants. As an ecosystem of interconnected ICT infrastructure providers, SCION is organized across existing autonomous systems (AS) within independent routing planes, known as Isolation Domains (ISDs). To become part of an ISD, the respective AS requires an appropriate certificate. SCION provides inherent security, as access to a communication network is always explicitly regulated and policies are enforced. SCION traffic is routed along predefined paths, giving users effective control over the routes their data takes. Thanks to its multi-path approach, this remains reliable even if one path fails — without compromising the defined routing policies. Unauthorized traffic redirection or denial-of-service attacks are virtually prevented through cryptographically secured routing. To enable SCION usage, Cyberlink operates dedicated core equipment, while end customers are connected via a SCION Edge device. Cyberlink installs the SCION Edge at the customer’s premises and proactively monitors it during the agreed service hours — optionally 24/7.
